Turn Down Thermostat
Having the right thermostat temperature in your home is essential for saving energy and keeping things cozy. According to ENERGY STAR, setting your thermostat to 68 degrees when you’re at home in the winter can help save energy and improve your comfort.
Turn off Lights
Turning off the lights when you’re not in the room can save energy. The amount of energy you save depends on the type of bulbs you use. Incandescent light bulbs, for example, are one of the least energy-efficient types of lighting.
This is because they produce heat as their primary electrical conversion before they generate any light. Ninety percent of the energy used by incandescent light bulbs is given off as heat, while only about 10 percent results into light.
Game Consoles
The Xbox One and other gaming consoles use a lot of power, but you can cut back on the amount of electricity they draw by tweaking your settings. In fact, you can cut down your console’s energy consumption by up to 50% without affecting its performance.
It also helps to move the console to a well-ventilated location, so that air can flow through it properly. Make sure all the vents are clear, and keep objects from getting in them.
