Peterhead Projects Limited hosted their first community woodland open day on Sunday 17 July 2011.
Visitors to the site took part in bird and bat box construction, face painting and a wildlife safari. The event was supported by young people from Peterhead Youth Forum and RSPB staff from Strathbeg and volunteers from the SAC Aberdeen. Although not as busy as was hoped, PPL staff received positive feedback from visitors several of whom have offered to volunteer at the site.
Based on the preliminary results of the consultation to name the woodland, "Buchan Meadows" is currently the front runner.
