Eva Sparreboom is the Woodland Officer for Grampian Conservancy, part of the Forestry Commission, who came to visit us and was able to provide useful input on our plans to develop a stretch of land into a community woodland, how to go about funding and general discussions on potential uses.
This was followed by a site visit to the proposed area of land on the immediate outskirts of Peterhead. The land was planted with a large selection and number of trees about 10 years ago.
We now have a pretty big task ahead of us - we will need to consult with adjacent landowners, the wider community, and lay down a plan to sympathetically develop this area to provide a peaceful and sheltered area of town for the benefit of the local and wider population.
We'd love it if you could help out with our community consultation by completing a short survey - you can find it here.
